Mrs. Dorthenia Newton, age 67 and a nurse aid from Tulsa, left with Angels, bound for Heaven on Monday, June 25, 2007 from Tulsa.
Dorthenia Newton was born December 9, 1939 and was the daughter of Bessie Oliver and Tom Harris. She attended Booker T. Washington High School. Dorthenia worked as a nurse's aid for years. She liked to play bingo and she also liked going to church. Dorthenia joined in Holy Matrimony Earl Edwards, a union that produced seven children: Felicia Cornwell (Roy), Ball Hill, OK., Gloria Terry, Atlanta, GA., Yolanda Ballard, Tulsa, OK., Earl Edwards, and Joseph Edwards, Tulsa, OK., Cordell Edwards, Oklahoma City, OK., Steven Edwards, Boley, OK. Mrs. Newton would later re-marry. This time to Rosevelt Newton, and this union produced one daughter, Rothenia Newton (Henry), Tulsa, OK. Other survivors include a brother Louis (Edith) Oliver, Haskell, OK., 25 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren. Her parents, brothers Joseph Oliver, J. W. Harris, T.P. Harris, and a sister Virda Lee Conway preceded her in death.
Services will be held Saturday at 2PM at The Haskell High School Gymnasium in Haskell, OK. Visitation will be Friday from 12 to 7 at the Tulsa Chapel
