Obituary

In Okmulgee, Oklahoma, Davie and Rebecca [Foreman] Hanson were blessed with a new son on August 29, 1946. They named him Dwight Edward.

Affectionately referred to by his friends as "White Boy", Dwight received his elementary and high school education from Okmulgee Public Schools, where he graduated from the Historic Dunbar High School with the Class of 1964.

After graduation, he enlisted with the United States Army, where he served his country honorably during the Vietnam Conflict, earning a Bronze star for service.

He then worked for the United States Postal Service and the General Service Administration in Kansas City, Missour for several years. Dwight later returned to Okmulgee in 2001 an worked with his nephew, Lonell Fultz as a concrete finisher until his failing health forced him to retire in 2003.

Mr. Hanson was a life member of the North American Fishing Club and amember of the American Legion Post 0001.

He was loved by all who knew him. He never met a stranger and was known for his kindness, gentleness and loved living life to the fullest.

Those who knew him know he had two loves in his life; his family and his love for fishing. He was devoted to his wife, Caryl and known to practice tough love with his children. He was a deeply faithful and God-fearing man and loved to read the bible. He enjoyed history and read voraciously. He left a precious gift for his family and we are all better off having had him in our lives.

He leaves in God's care; his wife, Caryl Hanson, of the home in Tulsa, Oklahoma; three sons, Jamil, Jared and Jarel Hanson, all of Springfield, Missouri; his step-daughter, Elise Beverly, Tulsa, Oklahoma; his step-son, Eric R. Williams and wife Dawn, Denver, Colorado; a granddaughter, Kyonna Malaa Plemmons, Springfield, Missouri; three brothers, Davie Hanson, Jr., and Daisy, Kansas City, Missouri, Homer Hanson and Lenora, Okmulgee, Oklahoma and Reverend Lewis Hanson and Geneva, Okmulgee, Oklahoma; a sister, Nancy Fultz and Lyndell, Okmulgee, Oklahoma; his mother-in-law, Caryl V.
