On February 26, 1955, a son was born to the Union of Walter and Viola Henry Tate in Muskogee County, Oklahoma. Dwight David was the 11th of 14 children in this unified family.
Dwight confessed his love for Christ at an early age and was baptized at Wilson Chapel Baptist Church. He attended Moton Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1973. He had a love for basketball and was one of the top players.
In 1977, Dwight enlisted in the United States Army earning the rank of E7 Cannon FD/FS Specialist. During his time in the military, he met and married Deborah Washington. To this union his daughter, Denise Nicole was born. Dwight had a special bond with his daughter that only a father and daughter would share. Dwight was honorably discharged from the Army in 1980.
He later joined First Baptist Church, Taft. Over the past 10 years, Dwight served as a volunteer at the Jack C. Montgomery Veteran's Hospital.
Uncle Dwight as he was known to his nieces and nephews had a "heart of gold" and was always wearing a big smile that would gently fill the room with his presence.
