Obituary

In Wagoner County, a small settlement called Haynes, Oklahoma is where a baby boy was born on May 24, 1923 from the union of the late Katie Hardridge and Albert Jones. He was named Earnest and was the last of nine siblings; 4 sisters and 4 brothers.

Earnest received his education in Tullahassee, Oklahoma, where he attended Carter G. Woodson School. After school, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he served his country honorably during in the South Pacific during World War II.

After returning to the states, he was employed at Klaus Clothing Manufacturers in Muskogee. His ambition was to be trained in tailoring. He also worked at the Muskogee Veteran's Administration Hospital for many years, and ultimately was employed by Valmac Poultry, where he retired as a supervisor.

Mr. Hardridge met the love of his life, Mildred M.A. Brown and they were married. Their loving union was blessed with 9 children.

With his loving family near his side, Earnest Hardridge, Sr., in his 84th season, dozed into eternity on Sunday, June 17, 2007 at High Noon. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters and 4 brothers.

He leaves in God's care; his wife of 56 years, Mildred Hardridge, of the home in Muskogee; his daughters, Berthena & Gene Palmer,Denise Ledbetter and Erma & Pleasant Reed; his sons, Earnest Hardridge, Jr., Raymond Hardridge, Jimmy Ray Hardridge, Dennis & Marshelle Hardridge, Glenn Henry & Jane Hardridge, and Timothy Joe & Karen Hardridge; special nieces, Cleo DeBose, Maxine Kaine and Gloria Gordon; special nephews, Eddie Hardridge, William Hardridge, Sr., and George Washington Brown, III; 23 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; a special brother-in-law, George Brown, Jr.; along with a host of other relatives and friends.

The tribute for Mr. Hardridge will be on Friday, June 22, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. in the St. Mark Baptist Church, 1020 S. 2nd Street in Muskogee. Reverend Anthony L. Scott, Sr., is the gracious host Pastor and Reverend Gene Palmer, the son-in-law, will officiate.

The Christian committal will follow, with military honors in the National Cemetery at Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma at 1:00 P.M.
