Obituary

EDDIE ROY MARSHALL was born on January 21, 1967, in Muskogee General Hospital, Muskogee, Oklahoma, to his proud parents Louis Charles and Mary Etta Marshall. His brother, Louis Charles Marshall, Jr., and his sister, Shoni Marshall, welcomed their little brother.

Eddie accepted Jesus Christ on August 4, 1974, at Shiloh Baptist Church in Red Bird, Oklahoma, under the leadership of Reverend N.H. Edwards. He was baptized at St. John Baptist Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He sang with the Shiloh Baptist Church Choir and served in other departments of the church.

He attended Porter Consolidated Schools for his formal education. He graduated with the class of 1985. He loved playing football and basketball for the Porter Pirates. He enjoyed spending time with his friends. He was always a social butterfly and never met a stranger.

Upon graduation he attended The University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma, where he studied there for two years and joined Kappa Alpha Psi.
He later moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, and began working at Olive Garden and Chimi's as a waiter. This was right up his alley because he enjoyed people so much.

His health was compromised in 2005 until his death. While he was in out of the hospital, one of his favorite songs to sing was "I Know It Was the Blood," for he knew the Jesus' blood still works. He moved back to Porter, Oklahoma. He purchased a mobile home and lived there next to his parents to what he called his "Castle." He loved attending Shiloh Baptist Church when his health permitted. He loved singing with the brotherhood and just being a part of the service. He also loved to share his testimony at every opportunity of how God was with him and bringing him through time and time again. Part of his testimony was how God came to him in a dream and told him that he would suffer for a little while and when he opened his eyes he would be in Heaven.

Eddie enjoyed spending the holidays with family which consisted of prayer and telling them his thoughts and his relationship with God. Eddie was a joke- teller. He often made them up as he went. He just wanted to be the center of attention and make people laugh. He was hospitalized on December 26th. From there, he was in and out of physical rehab and more hospitalizations. He could not talk in the last two weeks of his life. We would come into the hospital room. He knew we were there, but he was looking homeward bound with his eyes. We would often walk in, and he would have his hands lifted in praise.

He was ready to go to his eternal heavenly home, and he did just that early in the morning on February 28, 2023, at St. Francis Hospital with his family by his side. He left this world behind and went to the mansion he always talked about in Heaven.

Eddie leaves to cherish his memory: his parents, Louis and Mary Marshall of Porter, OK; brother, Charles (Melissa) Marshall of Tulsa, OK; sister, Shoni Johnson of Coweta, OK; he also leaves to mourn his memory: nieces, Patricia, Felicia, and Johanna Johnson; two nephews, Tyrone Marshall and Tre' Marshall; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Honoring Mr. Eddie Marshall's wishes it is requested that those who will be attending his funeral wear vibrant colors.
