Obituary

Eddie Ray Ramsey was the second son born to Ruby Lee (Simpkins) Ramsey and Jessie James Ramsey on March 1, 1956, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Eddie's formative education was provided through the Boley Public School System, Oklahoma City Public School System, the United States Army, and the School of Hard Knocks.

Eddie was introduced to Christ at an early age.  Although his faith wavered in his early life, it did not break, and Eddie later returned to his Christian foundation. He attended several churches in the Oklahoma City area before uniting with Tabitha Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend Jeff Mitchell, where his classmate and friend, Reverend Marcus Snell, served as one of the associate ministers.  Eddie loved discussing the Holy Bible, especially all the ministries.

Eddie loved sports.  Being a bachelor, he had the best man cave for enjoying televised and live streamed sporting events, which included championship basketball games and pay-per-view boxing, with his brothers, nephews, friends and cousins. His favorite sport was boxing in which he competitively participated while serving in the army.

Upon moving to Los Angeles, CA, Eddie began a career with the Federal Government, working for Veterans Administration and later retiring from the Veterans Administration Branch of Muskogee, OK.

Besides being called "Eddie the Raggedy" by his mom, Eddie was given the nickname "Captain" by his brother Floyd, because he had a "take charge" spirit.  He was "Uncle Eddie" to the family and took the title seriously, always willing to help as needed, whether giving corrective advice or being a financial blessing.  He never felt it necessary to lie and told the truth whether you wanted to hear it or not.  Eddie was a kind man covered in a rough exterior; with a warrior spirit. Diplomacy was not his format, so his advice was never sugar coated and seldom wrong.  There was nothing more important to him than family, and he loved his family unconditionally.

Eddie was preceded in death by both parents, Jessie and   Ruby Ramsey and one brother, Jessie Ramsey, Jr.

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.  Eddie our Warrior, who fought a good fight, finished his course on March 12, 2024.  He leaves to cherish his memory many who loved him: one aunt, Lovie   Sewell of Okemah, OK;  one uncle, Thomas (Patsy) Simpkins of San Mateo, CA; two sisters, Betty Henderson-Galloway of Sapulpa, OK and Esther Ramsey of Okemah, OK; two      brothers, Floyd (Pam) Ramsey of Edmond, OK and Kenneth Ramsey of Castle OK;  a host of  nieces, nephews, cousins,  friends; and his trusted dog Bobo.
