Obituary

Mrs. Edna Mae Major, in her 86th year, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 7, 2016 from Muskogee, Oklahoma.

Edna was born November 9, 1929 to Alfred and Effie Nunley. She
was one of ten children. Edna professed her belief in Christ at an early age and continued to worship and serve him until her death. Because of her illness, she was not able to attend church services as she would have desired, but did when she could. She first united with Wilson Chapel Baptist Church until she married Mr. Leroy Major and left for Oklahoma City. After a short stay there, she and her family relocated to California where she became a member of the King Solomon Baptist Church. She was a faithful member there and also took her children regularly. Later, because she wanted to be near her siblings, she moved to Muskogee, Oklahoma where she reunited with her sisters at the Wilson Chapel Baptist Church and there they very much enjoyed serving in the church and enjoying fellowship with each other. Before she became too ill to go to church, she was a devoted member of the Greater Shiloh Baptist Church.

Edna was a hard worker. While in California and upon her return to the Oklahoma area, she worked in the homes of many where she became one of the family. She not only took pride in the great job she did, but was respected and loved by them all as well as their children. During her years after retirement, she continue to be in
close communication with some of these families. She also enjoyed
spending time with other senior citizens at the Muskogee Douglas Nutrition Center.

Edna was preceded in death by her mother, Effie Nunley, and father,
Alfred Nunley, her grandson, Derrick Major as well as seven of her nine siblings. She fought a good fight, having been admitted to Hospice on several occasions, only to recover and continue to live and enjoy the family she loved so well.

Not this time, God decided it was time to depart this life and go home to glory. Edna has been missed by many during her extended health condition and will continue to be missed for years to come. She leaves the following relatives to cherish her memory: Three sons; Leroy Major Jr of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Jackie Lee Major of Fresno, Ca. David Major of Muskogee, Oklahoma.
