Edward Eugene Lawson, Jr departed this life and responded to the call of the Lord on March 10, 2023 where he now rest peacefully in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.Edward Eugene Lawson, Jr was born to the proud parents of Edward Eugene Lawson, Sr andVera Mae Talley-Lawson in Stillwater, Oklahoma February 20, 1949. Edward Eugene Lawson, Jr who was well known as Gene, Jr in the Stillwater Community. It was in Stillwater, Oklahoma where Edward Eugene Lawson, Jr attended Stillwater Public Schools, Washington School (First and Only African-Am School in Stillwater, OK) and later attended C.E Donart High School during integration, after graduating in 1967 from C.E. Donart High School, Edward Eugene Lawson, Jr move to Sacramento, California to further his education at American River College to complete his studies in the Medical Field to become a Surgical Technologist.In his pursuit of his degree, he worked for American River Hospital for 2 years until the completion of his studies in 1970.Edward Eugene Lawson, Jr was a devoted beliver in Jesus Christ. He was saved and Spirit filled at an early age. He attended Humble C.O.G.I.C Church in Sacramento, California under the anointed leadership of Elder Caldwell. It was there he met a Beautiful young woman by name of Chole Rhoda Coleman, who became the love of his life, and by God divine connection in 1970 he made the love his life, his wife.To this union of Edward Eugene Lawson, Jr and Chole Rhoda Lawson was born their 1st child, their daughter Telesa Necale Lawson (Syess) in 1971. In 1975 Edward Eugene Lawson, Jr and Chole Rhoda Lawson made the decision to move their growing family back home to Oklahoma as he and Chole Rhoda Lawson was soon to expect their 2nd child, a son who would be named Marcette Eugene Lawson, Sr in 1976 and three years afterwards a 3rd child, a son in 1979, Joseph Jon'te Lawson. Edward Eugene Lawson, Jr was a Family Man, his Family was the very beat of his heart, and the apple of his eye.Upon his arrival back home to Oklahoma Edward Eugene Lawson, Jr was employed by Kimray Incorporation.Edward Eugene Lawson, Jr "Gene Jr" was a Daddy Boy, he cherished and honored his beloved fatherEdward Eugene Lawson, Sr as well as his Mother Vera Mae Talley-Lawson and his Brothers and Sisters as well. It was Edward Eugene Lawson, Sr and Vera Mae Talley-Lawson who taught Edward Eugene Lawson, Jr and his other siblings the importance of their lineage and family values held. After the passing of his beloved father Edward Eugene Lawson, Sr in 1980. Edward Eugene Lawson, Jr moved his family back to Sacramento, California in 1980, where then he was employed by Sacramento State Capital as a Department Janitorial Supervisor from 1980 - 2009 where he retired and returned back to Oklahoma to enjoy his days of retirement.Edward Eugene Lawson, Jr was well rounded, and was no stranger to anyone he met. Anybody who knew Gene, Jr knew he loved Fishing, he loved Sports and he enjoyed Grilling and making his special potatoe salad. He was a sharp Dresser and Stepper on the dance floor and could croon like his favorite singers:Otis Redding, Sam Cooks and the Temptations as well as his gospel quartets: Mighty Cloud of Joy, Williams Brothers and Jackson Southernaires and countless other artist. His 2nd heartbeat was his beautiful 15 grandchildren and 11 great-children who all loved and adored their Big Daddy II.Edward Eugene Lawson, Jr was proceeded in Death by his loved ones: His Parents Edward Eugene Lawson, Sr and Vera Mae Talley-Lawson. His Brother: John Dean Lockett and His Sisters: Loyce N. Lockett (McGlory), Thelma E. Lawson (Harris), Carolyn M. Lawson (Petties), Nelda F. Lawson (Carson-King), Vera J. Lawson (Carson), Jacqueline E. Lawson (Ealom) and Sharmetrice D. Lawson (Chaney)He leaves to cherish his memories with his Beloved Wife of 53 years Mrs. Chole Rhoda Lawson, his Daughter Telesa Necale Lawson-Syess (Robert Syess), his Son Marcette Eugene Lawson, Sr (Former Wife Krystee) and Joseph Jon'tae Lawson (Takiyah) His Brothers: Samuel A. Lawson (Patricia), Donnie L. Lawson, Curtis D. Lawson (Clara), Rodney A. Lawson (Christine) and one Sister: Connie L. Lawson. A host of Cousins, Nieces and Nephews.On behalf of Mrs. Chole Rhoda Lawson and the Children of Edward Eugene Lawson, Jr would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to everyone who has shown love and support during this time of bereavement for them, and the extended Lawson Family.
The Hour of Remembrance will be held on Friday March, 24th, 2023 at 1PM in the most holy sanctuary of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Stillwater
The Christian Committal will immediately follow the services in the Fairlawn Cemetery in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
