On February 12, 1956, joy entered the home of Robert and Corine Sherman by the name of Edward Eugene. Gene grew up in the Haskell Community, graduating from Haskell High School with the Class of 1974.


After graduating from high school, he became employed by the G.T.E. Telephone Company. Gene was gifted in the area of technology, electronics and photography.


Gene departed in much the same way that he lived; quietly, humbly and peacefully. He was preceded in death by his mother and his grandparents.


He leaves to lament his passing; his father, Robert Sherman, Jr.; his son, Jamie [Casie] Blevins and Jamie's mother, Rhonda Blevins, Tulsa, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Gwendolyn and Jocelyn, Granview, Missouri; his sisters, Debra [Harold] Motte, Okmulgee, Oklahoma, Diann Johnson, Haskell; his brothers, William Sherman, Haskell, Oklahoma, and Neta Sherman, Tulsa, Oklahoma; five nieces, Keita, Donna, Bobbie, Marie and Laura; a host of great-nieces and nephews; two special cousins, Donnie Griffin and Patrick Garrett, both of Tulsa, Oklahoma; a foster-daughter, Krystalyne Foster, Coweta, Oklahoma; a special brother, Thomas Kimble; and an Aunt, Dr. Renee LaCour, Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Uncle, Don [Denise] Sherman, Wichita, Kansas.

The Hour of Remembrance will be on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 3:00 P.M. in the Eastside First Baptist Church.
