Obituary

Elder Mitchell Lee, after 79 years, joined "Church Triumphant" on Friday, March 24, 2017 from Fort Smith, Arkansas.

Mitchell Lee was born on June 14, 1937 to Robert and Analo (Phillips) Lee in Braden, Oklahoma.  He was the oldest of eight children. He went to be with our Lord and Savior early Friday morning, March 24, 2017.

Mitchell joined the US Navy in February of 1955 and was honorably discharged June of 1958.  Upon returning home he begin working on a farm. There he met the love of his life, Maggie Bunch.  Later, he started working at Joe Ray Chicken Plant in Fort Smith, AR.  After several years there he received a job at Yaffe Iron & Metal in Fort Smith, AR.  He received an opportunity to work at O.G.&E., where he retired in July of 1994 after 22 years of employment.  While working at O.G.&E. he received his GED and later became a master mechanic.

Elder Mitchell Lee was a faithful Pastor, Teacher and Servant of Faith Temple Church of God in Christ where he was Pastor for 32 years, He was the type of Sunday School Teacher that asked questions and challenged you. He also served as District Sunday School Superintendent.

Elder Mitchell Lee was preceded in death by his mother and father; and 2 brothers (Bobby and Thomas Lee).

He leaves to forever cherish his loving memory his wife of 55 years Maggie Lee, one son Johnny (Selena) Bunch of Keller, Texas and two daughters; Linda (Earl) Ledbetter of Spiro, Oklahoma and Damita (Samuel) Cunningham of Rentiesville, Oklahoma.  He also leaves 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 1 brother Jimmy (Mabel) Lee of Fort Coffee, OK, 4 sisters; Dorothy Phillips of Houston, TX, Katherine (EPluribus) Massey of Spiro, OK, Joyce (Alphonso) Edwards of Tulsa, OK and Mender Lee of Spiro, OK.  He leaves a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.



The Celebratory Worship Service honoring Elder Lee will commence on Friday, March 31, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. in the Victory Worship Center of Spiro, Oklahoma.  Pastor Bryan Fouts is the gracious host.

Burial will follow with military honors in the Fort Smith National Cemetery, Fort Smith, Arkansas.
