Elton Lynn Williams was born February 1, 1955 in Los Angeles, California to Charlie Mae Holman and the late Robert Earl Jemison.
At an early age, he moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma and attended Full Gospel C.O.G.I.C. Although the church had a big congregation, he was known for representing his church at convocations.
He received his education in the Tulsa Public School System attending St. Monica, Dunbar, Carver, and eventually graduating from Booker T. Washington High School in 1974. He ranked high in academics and was well known for his candid sense of humor.
Elton was also an outstanding football player until he sustained a knee injury. He enrolled in Draughon's School of Business to further his education.
Elton was employed at Hillcrest Medical Center for over 22 years. He moved up to become the Supervisor of Housekeeping. He was a loyal and dedicated employee that served as a good example for his fellow workers.
In 1981, Elton met the love of his life, Brenda Joyce Flint. They were married January 7, 1984. To this union, two beautiful daughters were born; Nicole Lynnette and Jasmine Lynn.
In 1990, Elder Williams accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, later accepting his call into the ministry. He served under his grandfather, the Late Superintendent C.W. Williams, who pastured Alsuma C.O.G.I.C. and Bethlehem C.O.G.I.C. in Sand Springs, OK. Upon the death of his grandfather, Elton was ordained and installed as Pastor of Bethlehem C.O.G.I.C in August of 1995. He would the become the interim Pastor of the City of Refuge C.O.G.I.C.
Pastor Williams preached about the spiritual food, but he did enjoy the taste of natural food. He loved church, and did not let his handicap affect his dedication to God. He was an annointed speaker of God and he spoke the Word in season, and out of season. We loved him, and miss him dearly, but God loved him best. He is now complete and whole and has no more physical limitations.
"It would be the last day of March," when Pastor Williams would take his last breath and receive eternal rest. His sister Pamela Holman and brother Ivan Holman preceded him in death.
He leaves in the hands of The Comforter, his wife of 24 years, Brenda Joyce Williams, his daughters, Nicole and Jasmine Williams; one son, Elton Lynn Shaw, Lawton, OK.; his mother, Charlie Mae Holman; his grandmother, Essie Mae Williams, two sisters; Shelia and JoNell Holman, three grandchildren; Elton Washinton, Treyveon and Aniyha Williams, a stepdaughter; Elvia Mithcell, aunt Bettye Williams, Los Angeles, California, and a host of relatives and friends.
Services for Elder Williams will be Friday April 4, 2008 at 1PM at Greater Grace Apostolic Temple in Tulsa. Visitation will be Thursday from 12Noon to 7PM.
