An infant son entered the world on May 10, 1918 in Eufaula, Oklahoma, the second son born to B. and Julia L. [Hutton] Lyday. Better known as "Blue" to family and friends, Mr. Lyday was a kind and loving husband, father and "Paw Paw" and will be missed by all who knew him.
During his lifetime, he served his Country honorably in the United States Army. After his service in the military, he met Laura J. White and they were married. Together, they made a home for their children during 32 years of holy matrimony before her death in 1974. Their love produced seven children.
He provided for his family through his labor at the Grand Theater, Joh Griffin Cessna Aircraft, Yaffee Iron and Metal, Muskogee Public Schools Bus Driver, Muskogee County Deputy Sheriff and Rheem's Air Conditioning in Fort Smith, where he spent 20 years after the death of his wife before ultimately returning to Muskogee.
After 88 years, Eldin Harvey Lyday found sweet rest with Jesus on Saturday evening, December 9, 2006. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, two sons, E. Harey Lyday, Jr., and Marshall "Marty" Lyday, a daugher, Sarah, a brother, a grandson and a great-granddaughter.
He leaves in God's care; three daughters, Shirley[Raymond] Shaver, Desoto, Texas, Patricia [Jerry] Bryant and Sandra Cullom, Tulsa, Oklahoma and Janie [Vernon] Moore, Muskogee, Oklahoma; his sister, Ruby, of Detroit, Michigan, Naomi, of California and Lula Mae Watkins, Muskogee, Oklahoma; his brothers, Casper Lyday and Cletus Lyday, Milwaukee, Wisconsin; twenty-two grandchildren; a caravan of great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
You may visit Mr. Lyday, as he slumbers at the funeral home in Muskogee on Thursday from 10 AM to 6 PM.
The farewell to Mr. Lyday will be held on Friday morning, December 15, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. at a graveside ceremony at the National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.
The family will meet at the funeral home on Friday morning at 9:00 A.M. for the final viewing before the procession to the cemetery. The casket will not be opened at the cemetery.
