On January 30, 1955, a beautiful, baby boy was born to Herman Vernon
and Janie [Grant] Dean in Muskogee, Oklahoma. This son was named Elias
Dean.
Better known to family and friends as "Dee Dee", he grew up in Muskogee
and attended Muskogee Public Schools. He spent most of his time
working with livestock. He was a rodeo performer who loved to
horseshoe and bull riding. He was a true and devoted Cowboy that loved
to participate in different competitive rodeo events. But most of all,
he loved his family.
In June of 1980, he met and then married Hester Henry-Jamison. This
union was blessed with two children. After 3 years, this marriage was
dissolved. "Dee Dee" was loved by many and will be truly missed by his
family and dear friends.
In his 58th season of life, Elias Dean made his transition from this
life on Saturday, February 9, 2013 in Muskogee. He was preceded in
death by his parents, 2 nephews, a brother and 2 sisters.
He leaves to cherish his memory; 2 daughters, Esther and DeAndria
Dean, both of Los Angeles, California; 4 sisters, Gloria Fleary, Janie
Grand, of Charleston, South Carolina, Willie Mae Breedlove [Gerald],
Muskogee and Mary Baker, Tulsa, Oklahoma; 2 brothers, Phillip Grant,
Charleston, South Carolina and Lloyd Grant, Pasadena, California; a
grandson, DeQuante Hearn; along with a caravan of nieces, nephews,
cousins and friennds.
Service of Memory for Mr. Dean will be on Monday, February 18, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Dean's Chapel Baptist Church.
Burial will follow in Booker T. Washington Cemetery. You may visit Mr. Dean on Sunday, from 3 PM until 5 PM.
