Elizabeth Sanders was born on June 23, 1942, in Muskogee, OK to Floyd Wilkerson and Pandora Wilkerson. She was the oldest of 12 kids.
Elizabeth graduated from Manual High School on May 27, 1960. She continued her education and graduated from Tulsa Technical College in June of 1968, where she was a prestigious student. On her report, it stated she was a very pleasant student that dressed very well.
She then started a job working for the government as a Spec Engineer. She retired from the federal government. She continued to work and retired from Weise Research in 2015. Elizabeth didn't get her driver's license until later in life. This was a huge accomplishment for her. She loved to tell the story that she bought her own car, found a guy in the paper, and took a few driving lessons from him.
Elizabeth had her first marriage to Clint Newton on March 1, 1968, and with him she birthed five children.
On July 8, 1983, she married the love of her life, Louis Sanders. She then moved to Omaha, NE, where she lived the rest of her life.
Elizabeth Sanders loved and enjoyed her family. She loved Sunday dinners making waffles and cooking dinner for her family. For hobbies, she was on a bowling team for many years. During Christmas she collected villages and all the pieces. She would put them on display. She was very proud of her family, and she always loved telling stories about them. In 2015, Elizabeth became ill and had been fighting illness ever since. She loved to watch the Hallmark channel and watching westerns, all while playing her tablet.
On November 15th, she said she was tired and was ready to go home to be with the Lord. She spent her last days surrounded by her children and some of her grandchildren. She wanted all her family to know that she loved them very much. Elizabeth had a heart of gold and never met a stranger. She loved to have conversations and would talk to everyone she met.
She was preceded in death by her father, Floyd Wilkerson; mother, Pandora Wilkerson; brothers, Lincoln Wilkerson, William Wilkerson, and Orlando Wilkerson; and her daughter, Daphne Lee Newton.
Elizabeth leaves behind: her children, Traci Newton of Los Angeles, CA, Carla Newton (Kevin Grayson) of Omaha, NE, Nicholle Newton (Clinton Cederdahl) of Anna, TX, and Frank Newton (Andradia Newton) of Muskogee, OK; her siblings, Arthaila Garrett, Nancy Wilkerson, Pam Wilkerson, Andrea Wilkerson, Carl Wilkerson, Cody Wilkerson, Robert Wilkerson, and Dion Wilkerson; and a host of grandkids, great- grandkids, nieces, and nephews.
The Sacred Farewell for Mrs. Sanders will commence on Tuesday Afternoon, November 23, 2021 at 12:00 PM in the most holy sanctuary of the Worship Community Center. Pastor Shawn Wilkerson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Gibson Station.
