Ellen was born February 11, 1952 to Albert and Helen [Lewis]Figures in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. She was the third of five children.

Better known as "Chicken" to family members, Ellen grew up in Okmulgee and graduated from Okmulgee High School with the class of 1970. She later moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she became a member of Hilltop Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Charles Williams.

On Thursday afternoon, the 16th day of February, Ellen found peace and rest. She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Figures; her husband, Anthony "Bodie" Miles; a son, Rolland "Toby" Miles, Sr.; brothers Bobby and Earl; a sister, Brenda; and a grandchild, Anyah.

She leaves to mourn; her son, Andre Miles; step-children, Ollie Hammon and Crystal Ball; step-son, Anthony Miles, Jr.; a special nephew, Ronald Motte; her mother, Helen Figures; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Thomas and Naomi Gannon; a sister, Peggy Figures Adkins,; 5 grandchildren; along with a caravan of other relatives and friends.

The final tribute held Saturday, February 25, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. in the St. Matthew Baptist Church. Reverend McKinley Rice, the gracious Host Pastor and Reverend Dr. Jerry Lewis, Officiant. Burial in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery.
