On March 16, 1935, in Idabel, Oklahoma, God blessed Edward and Thelma (Wesson) Lee with a beautiful daughter that they named Elnora. Elnora was the fourth of ten children born to Edward and Thelma.
Affectionately known to her eight brothers and family as "Sister", Elnora eclipsed the barrier of time to be eternally at home with her Lord and Savior on August 16, 2010.
Elnora accepted Christ into her heart at an early age and was educated in the Muskogee school system. She married Austin Brown and relocated to Tulsa, Oklahoma. The family moved to Oklahoma City where she was a faithful member of the Redeemed Missionary Baptist Church for more than 36 years. At Redeemed Missionary Baptist Church, under the pastorate of Rev. Dr. L.R. Drinkwater, Sr., she found great pleasure in serving in the Senior Choir and in Mission #2.
Meeting her at Heaven's Gate are her mother and father, Edward and Thelma Lee; three brothers, James, Dillard and Edward; and one sister, Helen. She leaves to cherish her memory three children: Clarence Luckey and Charles (Alice) Brown, both of Oklahoma City, OK and Doris (Joseph) Hayden of Houston, TX. She is also survived by five brothers: Charlie Lee, Willard (Elnora) Lee, and Donald (Becky) Lee who reside in Los Angeles, CA; Walter Lee and Kevin (Kesha) Lee of Muskogee, OK. She leaves precious memories with two beloved friends and sisters-in-the-Lord, Olether Tolliver of Crescent, OK and Minnie Henderson of Tulsa, OK; six grandchildren including a special granddaughter, Shenell Beasley, of Dallas, TX; her extended family, the Patmon-Anderson-Tolliver; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Elnora touched the lives of a countless number of people with her smile and generosity, and maintained her trademark sense of humor even to the very morning that she departed this earthly life. As a chef extraordinaire, she enjoyed preparing dinners for small and large gatherings, particularly during the holiday seasons. Her gift allowed her to work in the restaurant industry for over three decades. To everyone that she met, Elnora exemplified Christ and demonstrated the Love of God.
Elnora loved her family dearly and made ultimate sacrifices in order for her children to have the very best that she could possibly give to insure they maximize their God-given talents. Always esteeming their mother as a giver because she gave from her heart, her children will honor the rich legacy that she leaves with them.
Today her children rise up and call her blessed (Proverbs 31:28) and rejoice in the knowledge that "Mama" has been rewarded for her labor of love here on earth.
"And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write,
Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth:
Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors;
and their works do follow them." (Revelation 14:13)
Her Celebratory Tribute will commence on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. in the most holy sanctuary of the Redeemed Missionary Baptist Church. The Pastor, Dr. L. R. Drinkwater will Preside.
The Christian committal will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens, Spencer, Oklahoma.
