Obituary

A life is like a song we write, in our own tone and key; each life we touch reflects a note, that forms the melody.

We choose the theme and chorus of the song to hear our name; and each will have a special sound, no two can be the same.

So when someone we love departs, in memory we find their song plays on, within the hearts of those left behind.....

On November 10, 1923, in the small family community of Detroit, Texas, a prayer was answered when a baby girl was born from the union of Finch and Dora Wardlow. This precious daughter was named Elnora and she was the ninth of ten children in the family.
With eight boys and two girls, she was pampered and spoiled by her parents and brothers. Her parents were devoted Christians and trained up their children to love and serve God. Her parents relocated from Texas to Oklahoma and settled in a small community, Brush Hill in McIntosh County, where Elnora started her education in a small, one room school house.
The family later moved to Muskogee, where she attended Old Agency School and Dunbar Elementary School. On September of 1937, at the tender age of 14, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and joined Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church under the Pastoral guidance of Reverend Frank R. Roberts. She served the Church in many areas; Secretary of B.W. U., Youth Choir Director, Adult Choir President, Chairman of the Kitchen Committee, Church Clerk and the Willing Workers sponsor. Her greatest loves were God, Family, Church, and Music. She started singing Gospel Music at the early age of 9.
She graduated from Historic Manual Training High School in 1941, at the same time receiving her certificate of completion in Cosmetology. After graduation, she moved to Denison, Texas, where she met her future husband. She was united in marriage to Charles H. Morrison on November 22, 1942. God blessed this union with 3 children; a son and two daughters. Charles was drafted into the United States Marine Corp in 1943 and Elnora moved back to Muskogee with their son. While he was serving his country, Elnroa operated a beauty shop at Camp Gruber.
Elnora worked various jobs until the family moved to Kansas City, Missouri. There, she worked at National Bella Hess Mail Order Company and Metro Credit Bureau. She united with the Corinthians Missionary Baptist Church under Reverend John Yocham.
After her parents passed away, Elnora moved to San Jose, California to be with her children. There, she worked at the Bay Area Credit Bureau until the Lord blessed her with employment at the IBM Corporation in San Jose. She united with Emmanuel Baptist Church there. Elnora lived in San Jose for 15 1/2 years until she was transferred to Tucson, Arizona, where she retired in December of 1988.
After retirement, she began volunteer work at the Community Hospital in Wilcox, Arizona. In 1990, Elnora and Charles returned to her roots in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She reunited with Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church and continued her devotion to God and service.
Elnora loved working for her Lord and Savior. She instilled the love of music in her children. She began her volunteer work in Muskogee at Good Shepherd Free Clinic, Habitat for Humanity and was a member of Manual Training Restoration Community Center, as well as Volunteers of America.
On Sunday, March 22, 2015, from Muskogee, Oklahoma, Elnora Wardlow Morrison, after 91 years, found Sweet Rest, Beyond the River. She was preceded in death by her husband and all of her siblings.
Those left to lament her passing; her son, Charles E. [Barbara] Morrison, Muskogee, Oklahoma; her daughters, Elouise Jones, San Diego, California and Patricia E.
