Elroy Fennell, after 85 years,dozed into Eternal Peace on Tuesday morning, March 21, 2006 at 4:55 from Grace Living Center in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
Elroy entered this life on April 29, 1920, the son of James and Minnie Lee Fennell. He was the fifth of eleven children blessed to this union.
Mr. Fennell received his formal education in the Mt. Vernon public school system, and later received his certificate in television and small appliance repair.
On November 13, 1939, he was united in marriage to Winnie Rae Dotson and to this union they were blessed with four daughters and two sons.
In 1947 he moved his family to Detroit, Michigan where he was employed at Greyhound Bus Lines until 1961. The family spent a short time in Chicago, Illinois before returning to Muskogee, Oklahoma to live, where he was employed at Fullerton's Electric until he retired.
In 1983, his wife of 44 years passed away. He later married Mary Vealy on May 8, 1987. Together they became members of New Jerusalem Baptist Church where he was a faithful member until his death.
He was preceded in death by his eldest son Elroy Jr., both parents and four brothers, Richard, Henry, Ivory, Ernest Fennell; and four sisters, Belle, Dorothy, Drucilla, and Annie Lee; one grandson, Bryant Allen, and one great, great grandson Clifton…………
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Mary, one son Alfred Fennell, Muskogee, Oklahoma; four daughters, Jeraldine "Jerri" Hudson and Barbara (Ronnie) Boulware, Muskogee, Oklahoma; Helen Jackson , Tulsa, Oklahoma; Jeanie Lawson, Kansas City, Missouri; 17 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 25 great, great grandchildren to whom he was referred to as "Daddy Elroy"; a brother James (Mona) Fennell, Denver, Colorado; a sister, Gracine Wright, Kansas City, Kansas; a sister-in-law, Melowee Fennell, Tulsa, Oklahoma and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
The final tribute will be on Saturday, March 25, 2006 at 3:00 P.M. in the New Jerusalem Baptist Church. Rev. Ralph Boyattia, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Doyle Cemetery at Yahola, Oklahoma.
