Obituary

Emma Marie Cole was born on March 17, 1945 in Dallas, TX to Carl Lillie Roan and Clarence Engram.  She was the only daughter out of three sons; her twin brother David, Clarence Jr, and Luther.
Emma met the love of her life, Edward Cole in Muskogee, OK.  They were married October 7, 1961.  This marriage was blessed with three children; Michael, Marcus, and Tonie.  Ms. Cole worked for the Oklahoma Eagle Newspaper and later became a substitute teacher for the Muskogee Public School System..  Educating, tutoring, and teaching children to read became her passion.  She would always say, " get you a stick to fight with; your education".  Ms. Cole received a GED after becoming a young mother and wife at 16 years old.  After the passing of her oldest child, she later enrolled at Northeastern State University to focus on something positive and apply herself to obtain a bachelors in Education.  She completed her junior year of under-grad, making the Dean's Honor Roll.  In 1996, her husband, Mr. Cole, became ill and she discontinued at NSU to take care of her sick husband until his passing on April 29, 1997.
Ms. Cole was a faithful member of St. Mark Baptist Church where she served in the Mother's Ministry.  She attended Sunday School and was a faithful supporter of her church and pastor, Rev. Cutler.
On February 14, 2021, with her family at her side, Ms. Cole dozed into the tranquil peace of Eternal Slumber.  No more pain, no more suffering, just rest.  Ms. Cole leaves her son Marcus Cole and wife Jocelyn, NC; her twin brother Rev. David Engram and wife Gloria of CA; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-great grandchildren; and 1 great-great-great grandchild.
The Celebratory Worship Service commemorating Mother Cole's life will commence on Friday, February 26, 2021 at HIGH NOON in the most holy sanctuary of the Saint Mark Missionary Baptist Church.  The Pastor, Reverend Rodger LB Cutler will Preside.
And until THEN, she shall rest in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Muskogee.
You may visit Mother Cole, as she slumbers in sweet repose at the funeral home in Muskogee on Thursday from 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM.
