HisStory

On September 23rd, 1969, The Lord blessed Ary Johnson and Frankie Mae Jones Johnson with the birth of Eric DeWayne. Eric accepted the Lord and was baptized and joined the Church of the Living God. In his youth, he attended grade school at Eastside Elementary for his formative years, after which he attended Okmulgee High where he graduated with his Class in 1987.

After graduation, Eric wanted to broaden his horizons so he moved to Oakland, California and attended Airco Technical Institute Welding School. Under the instruction of his uncle Caesar Jones, Eric went on to become an excellent welder. After working a number of years in Oakland, Eric realized that there is no place like home, so he returned to Tulsa. He joined his uncle at Stairmaster Enterprise in 1992, and worked until he acquired a welding position at Accurate Manufacturing. In 2005 he worked with Cowboy Cox as his supervisor along with Jorge Becerra, a good friend and welding partner until God called him Home on July 23, 2015.

Eric was preceded in death by both paternal and maternal grandparents whom he loved dearly. He loved to ride motorcycles and he loved Cherrell his horse. Eric was a very lovable young man who was well liked by many. He never met a stranger. Eric leaves to cherish his memory, his mother Frankie M. Johnson, Tulsa, OK, his father Ary Johnson, Jr. and stepmother Kathleen Johnson, Morris, OK, six brothers: Clarence "Rod" Butts (Valery), Tulsa, OK, Clayton "Pete" Butts, Tulsa, OK, Jessy Johnson, Morris, OK, Aaron Johnson, Morris, OK, LaRon Johnson, Okmulgee, OK, and Ary Johnson, III, St. Louis, MO, one sister Catherine "June" Shannon (Emmett), Bixby, OK, two uncles Caesar Jones (Janice) Okmulgee, OK, and James Franklin (Carol), Los Angeles, CA, two aunts Bernadine Jenkins, Okmulgee, OK, Deborah Coleman (Marcus), Tulsa, OK, along with a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
