Eric Durand Hopkins

Eric Durand Hopkins was born on February 21, 1955 to Abraham Hopkins and Tennie Hopkins of Berea, Ohio. At a youthful age, Eric accepted the Lord at First Baptist Church, beginning a lifelong foundation of faith. He attended Berea High School, where he played football and developed his love for sports.

Eric was an avid sports fan and proudly cheered for the Cleveland Browns. He also enjoyed watching the Guardians and spending time with his crew. A man of many interests, Eric loved cooking, reading, racing, movies, and listening to music. He worked as a truck driver and a chauffeur for 30 years. With an entrepreneurial spirit, he enjoyed operating his own ventures. Above all, Eric will be remembered for his warm, beautiful smile and fervent laughter that would light up any room.

In 2003, Eric moved to Los Angeles, California, where he lived until 2007. He later made Oklahoma his home, living there for a total of 34 years. He moved to Muskogee, Oklahoma in 2017, where he resided for the past nine years. Oklahoma City and Muskogee became places where he built community and lasting memories.

Eric leaves to cherish his memory his siblings: Jacqueline Ramsey(dec); Beverly Hopkins; Melvin Hopkins; Curtis Hopkins Sr. (Valorie Settles); Debora Johnson (Wesley Sr.); and Tammie Thompson (Rick both dec), along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.

Eric’s life was a testament to faith, resilience, love of family, and the joy he brought to others. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.“When someone you love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure. Not a day goes by when you are not loved or missed.”
