On October 21, 1927, Ermagene Stearns was born to Harold and Emma Stearns in Boley, Oklahoma.  She was the oldest of five girls.  She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Ermagene attended and graduated from Boley High School.  She later attended the HBCU Langston University for one year.  Afterward she moved to the big city, Tulsa.  It was around that time that she met the handsome John H. Sanders while waiting for the bus at a bus stop.  They fell in love and were married on June 29, 1949.  Ermagene and John loved being around family and friends.  They often opened up their home for family to stay with them.  Ermagene was a hard worker.  She worked for Oertle's until it closed, did a stint with Tulsa Public Schools, andlastly she worked and retired from Garbe's at the ripe age of 88 years old.

Ermagene Sanders went to her Heavenly home on Sunday, January 28, 2018. Her husband, John Howard, and son, Stephen Lee, preceded her in death.  Her sisters Dorthell Harris and Altha La Blanc, also preceded her in death.  She leaves to cherish her memories two sisters, Bonnie Brown of San Diego, CA; Ruth Hopson of Baltimore, MD; two children, John H. Sanders Jr (Phyllis) of Tulsa ,OK; Sheila L. Sanders Wright (Joseph "Pat") of Norman, OK; three grandchildren, John H. Sanders III (Angeleen) of Tulsa, OK; Christa M. Richard (Joseph) of Riverside, CA; Robert G. Walker III of Norman, OK; one great grandchild on the way, Brielle C. Richard of Riverside, CA.  She also leaves to cherish her a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Services for Ms. Sanders will be Saturday February 3, 2018 at 11AM at Metropolitan Baptist Church in Tulsa.

Friends may visit Ms. Sanders on Friday from 1PM until 7PM in the Tulsa Chapel.
