Reflection of Life

Ermergene Lacy was born on July 17, 1917 to Robert Jefferson and Minnie Johnson in Mexia, Texas.  She attended Dumbar High School in Mexia, Texas.  The family moved to Vernon, Texas and she completed school at Fredrick Douglas High in 1935. Ermergene Lacy met and married Henry Lacy and they moved to Tulsa, OK in 1945.  To this union three children were born Henry Jr, Erma J and Nancy.

Mother Ermergene Lacy gave her life to Christ under the anointing of Bishop F.L. Haines in Denton, Texas before she moved to Oklahoma.  She joined Northside Church of God In Christ in 1951 under the leadership of the late Elder Carl Prather, followed by Elder Marion Ross and now her current Pastor Dr. David J. Johnson, Sr.  She remained faithful at Northside until God called her home.

Mother Ermergene Lacy was known for her anointed singing and bringing the word of God.  She enjoyed working for the Lord, and anyone that came in contact with her knew she was a Woman of God.  Mother Lacy worked under Superintendent Hearne, Superintendent Carl Prather, Superintendent Julius Ballard and now her Pastor Superintendent, Dr. David J. Johnson, Sr.

Mother Ermergene Lacy served on the Oklahoma Northwest State Advisory Board. She served as the State President of the Mother's Board, and she was State MC for the Choir under the leadership of Choir President, I D. Wilson.  She worked with the State Sunshine Band and was a Helper to District Missionary Young.  She faithfully served at Northside COGIC for 68 years.  Mother Lacy served as Church Mother for over 55 years, and she served as President of the Prayer and Bible Band, and in her earlier years she worked with the Young Women's Christian Council.  During the many years, Mother Lacy enjoyed travelling to various church services.

Mother Ermergene Lacy loved going to church, singing, and praising the Lord with her whole heart.  Mother Lacy especially enjoyed leading testimony service and she would often times encouraged others to, "Let's have some church saints". She always had a testimony to share about the goodness of the Lord. She was a great prayer warrior. She leaves a great legacy of servant-hood and she was an inspiration to us all.
