Ernest Eugene Coulter was born on October 11, 1930, the son of John and
Mattie [Clemmons] Jennings in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. He attended
school and grew up in Fort Gibson. After school, he served his country
honorably in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
In 1952, he met a lovely young lady who caught his eye. They fell in
love and after courtship, they were united in Holy Matrimony on August
13, 1953. Their loved was blessed with two children.
Mr. Coulter provided for his family through his loyal employment with
Corning Glass from 1972 until his retirement 18 years later.
He loved his family members, which includes the Coulters, the Sallis
Family, Clemmons family and the Jennings family. Mr. Coulter enjoyed
tinkering with his cars, trucks, horseback riding, hunting, gardening
and working in the yard and singing the Blues.
In his 82nd year, Ernest Eugene Coulter took "A walk up the King's
Highway" on Saturday, July 27, 2013 from Muskogee, Oklahoma. He was
preceded in death by a son, Winston Eugene Coulter, his parents,
Donjuan Coulter, and a brother, Angelo "Buck" Coulter.
He leaves in God's care; his wife, Jessie Mae Coulter; two daughters,
Emma Perez [William], Tulsa, Oklahoma and Theresa Coulter, Fort Gibson;
four grandchildren, Gwendolyn Coulter Davison [Darrell], Broken Arrow,
Oklahoma, Natosha D. Coulter, Tulsa, Ashawna Miles [Dwight], Wagoner
and Joshua Lee Wilson, Tulsa, Oklahoma; his great-grandchildren,
Sheena Coulter, Elijah Coulter, Cole Coulter, Nickolaus Coulter,
Brandon Coulter, Jessica Coulter and Tre'Vaun Wilson; his
great-great-grandchildren, Gergory Nash, Ary'Ella Coulter, Kamiah
Wilson, Jerimah Coulter; along with a caravan of other relatives and
friends. who will forever cherish his memory.
The final salute will commence on Friday, August 2, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. in the Historic First Baptist Church of Fort Gibson. Reverend Marcus Burkhalter is the gracious host Pastor and Reverend Walter Brown, Jr., will officiate.
Burial will follow at 1:00 P.M. in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery.
