In Watonga, Oklahoma, Lawrence and Eula Burton became the proud parents of a baby girl on October 15, 1936. They named her Estella B., but she was nicknamed "Boogie."

Estella accepted Christ at an early age, and her family moved to Muskogee, where she attended Muskogee Public Schools, ultimately graduating from Historic Manual Training High School with the proud Class of 1955.

She met and later married Harold Duncan and they remained married for 55 years until his passing on Thanksgiving morning of 2007.

Mrs. Duncan worked as a domestic worker during her life. She was a devoted member of Union Baptist Church in Muskogee until it closed, after which she united with Central Missionary Baptist Church, where she remained a member until her health began to fail and she moved to Oklahoma City to live with her daughter.
