On January 7, 1923, Estella Carter was delivered to the proud couple of Willie and Maude Carter in the small town of Fort Coffey, Oklahoma. Their loving union produced five girls, and five boys. Estella was the oldest of them all. Estella and her family later moved to Muskogee, Oklahoma. There she attended school, and later began working as a cook. In her life's journey, she would meet and marry a young gentleman by the name of Charles T. Jackson, and they would remain married for 53 years.
Estella gave her life to Christ at an early age. She lived, and loved the Lord. She was a caring, loving person who gave her all to those she knew, and even to those she didn't know. She was always willing to help anyone. Estella was a model mother to her children, as well as her grandchildren. She loved the Lord, her family, and friends. She continued to work for many years at Famous Restaurants in Muskogee, and in Kansas City, where she lived for many years with her husband and children. Later they would return back to Oklahoma settling in Tulsa where she worked for various places. She later retired and opened up her own day care center, "Stella's Day Care," where she cared for many children whom she taught and nourished. She loved them all as if they were her own. The parents loved her. The children loved her even more. She did not stop there. She even cared for the elderly for many years as well. Then her health began to slow her down. God began to see her growing tired and weary. So in the wee hours of November 24, 2010, God saw fit to call Estella home. She went so peaceful and timely with her daughter and son in-law by her side. Estella will be missed so very much by those who knew her. She will always be in our hearts.
Her husband, one daughter, and one son preceded her in death. Estella leaves to cherish her loving memories, her daughter, Doris Magee (James), a son Wayne Jackson, all of Tulsa, OK., her sisters: Mayella Foster, and Mary Thomas, both of Fort Smith, Arkansas, two brothers: Willie Carter (Joann), and Roy Carter (Junnie), Oklahoma City, OK, along with a host of grandchildren: Jada, Marqus, Tracy, Darell, Dana, James, Adrene, Kevin, Valerie, Carla, and a arm full of great-grandchildren.
Services for Estella Jackson will be Thursday December 2, 2010 at 11AM inside the Chapel of Remembrance in Muskogee. Visitation will be in Tulsa on Wednesday from 12Noon to 6PM with a wake from 6PM to 7PM.
