Estelle M. Burrell, 78 was escorted to her Heavenly Home, on November 6, 2014.
Estelle was born to the late Brodie Young and Carrie B. Frost in Idabel, OK on March 20, 1936. She enjoyed school, excelled in mathematics and desired to become a teacher. She graduated in 1952 from Booker T. Washington High School in Idabel, Oklahoma. She later moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where she met and married the love of her life, Mr. James I. Burrell, Sr. on December 30, 1960. The couple would remain married for 53 years.
Estelle was blessed with a large and loving family of six children. She was a phenomenal mother and grandmother and was also a mother to many neighborhood children. Estelle enjoyed every opportunity to support and participate in her children's many activities such as football and basketball games, campfire girls, cheerleading, as well as attending every awards assembly, play, and PTA Meeting. You never left her house without being "fed" physically, emotionally, or spiritually. She was the epitome of servant-hood, and trained her children to do the same.
She was employed at St. Johns Hospital in Tulsa for over 30 years and enjoyed helping people. After retiring from the hospital, she did what she loved best: traveling extensively with her husband and going to places that she'd always dream of going.
Estelle leaves a legacy behind. It is one of beauty, purity, loyalty, and love. Although we miss her terribly, our hearts rejoice in the fact that she is with the Lord. Estelle is preceded in death by her twin brother Westelle Frost, and sister Doris Frost, as well as her sons Rip Burrell and Malcolm Burrell.
She is survived by her husband James Burrell, Sr., sons: Michael Frost and James Burrell, Jr., daughters: Madelyn Andrews and Melody Watson, sister Geraldine McLain, elven grandchildren, eight grandchildren, along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Services for Mrs. Estelle Burrell will be Saturday November 15, 2014 at 11AM at Timothy Baptist Church located at 821 E. 46th Street North in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Friends may visit Mrs. Burrell in Tulsa from 10AM until 7PM in Tulsa.
