Esther Evelyn Davis was born in Ada, Oklahoma on July 20, 1927 from the union of Francis [Stevenson] Lamey and Calvin Davis.
Esther accepted Christ into her life at an early age and after reaching adulthood, met and married Alvis Brooks.. She was a longtime, faithful member of the New Salem Baptist Church.

Esther Evelyn Brooks, in her 93rd year with us, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 15, 2021. She was preceded in death by her mother and her father, her husband, Alvis Brooks; her sisters, Doris Pickens, Sarah Berry, Juanita Cheadle and Christine Davis; her brothers, Tyree Lamey and Theophilus Brown; a daughter, Evette Brooks McGriff; and a son, Charles Anderson.

Mother Brooks leaves in God's care; two daughters, Jeanette Jones Smith, Oklahoma City and Sharon Brooks, Okmulgee, Oklahoma; two sons, Chester Anderson [Sondra], Earlsboro, Oklahoma and James Brooks, Tulsa, Oklahoma; three granddaughters; ten great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Francis Berry, Phoenix, Arizona, Ola Mae Kemp, Ardmore, Oklahom and Vera Lamey, Dallas, Texas; a brother, William Lamey, Jr.; along with other relatives and friends.

The Sacred Farewell for Mother Brooks will commence on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace of the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc., of Okmulgee.  Pastor Harold White, New Salem Baptist Church, will officiate.  Burial will follow in the Hoardsville Cemetery, east of Henryetta, Oklahoma.
