On December 6, 1943, a baby girl was born to Gladys and Thomas Turner and they named her Eva Mae. She was the second of six children in this family.
Eva was born and raised in Clarksville, Oklahoma. At a young age, she confessed a hope in Christ and later in life, she moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she attended Carver Middle School and Booker T. Washington High School.
In 1960, she met and married Theodore Hill. There were five children born from this union. Mrs. Hill was a devoted wife to her husband and mother to her children.
Eva provided for her family through her employment as a home health care provider for a number of years. In 2004, she moved her membership to Timothy Baptist Church.
On Thursday, December 18, 2008, Eva Mae Hill, after 65 seasons, moved from "Earth to Glory" from Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Theodore Hill; her parents, Thomas and Gladys Turner, a sister, Nellie Boxsley, and two grandsons, Colby King and Christopher Thompson.
She leaves to cherish her memory; five children, Leonard Turner, Margrette [Joe] Jackson, Theodore Hill, Jr., Tommy [Rhonda] Hill, Rita Hill, all of Tulsa, Oklahoma; a brother, Thomas [Paulette] Turner, Jr.; three sisters, Florence [Lawrence] Turner, Linda [Jimmy] Turner, both of Muskogee and Dorothy Turner, Tulsa, Oklahoma; three sisters-in-law, Laura [Walter] Vann, Doris [Q.T.] Williams, and Patrici [Ed] Bruner; seven grandchildren, Antaun Turner, Artez Turner, Krisby Thompson, Joe Peters, Yolanda Peters, Krystal Hill and Thomas Hill; a special, loving aunt-like a sister, Elmira Rothschild; and long-time, devoted friend, Hazel Jones; a special cousin, Floyd [Stacy] Turner; other relatives and many friends.
The Final Hour will be on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. in the Timothy Baptist Church. Rev. J. B. Patterson, Pastor, will officiate.
Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery in Tulsa. You may visit Mother Hill, as she slumbers in sweet repose at the funeral home in Tulsa on Friday, from 12 Noon to 7 PM.
