It all began on February 21, 1942 in Okmulgee, when Mary Catherine [Guillory] and John Allen Barre' rejoiced in the birth of a baby girl. They named her Evella Mae.
Her formative years were spent in Los Angeles, California, where she began attending school. At the age of 17, the family relocated back to Okmulgee, Oklahoma, where she spent the rest of her life. She met Jerry Reagan, Sr., and they were married in October of 1961. Together they raised a daughter, Debra Ann and their son, Jerry Clyde, Jr. This union was later dissolved.
Evella was active in her Church, Uganda Martyr's Catholic Church and served in many capacities. She was one of the first ladies of Peter Claver in Okmulgee. She loved her church family and served on numerous committees, such as Relay for Life, St. Peter Claver Day Celebration, Religion Formation classes for children, Nanna Day program, Supplies for Needy, Nursing Home and Food Pantry and many others. She also served as Grand Lady for 10 different terms.
Evella was a faithful servant to her community, active with the Salvation Army, Okmulgee Chamber of Commerce, Angel Tree, Okmulgee High School Track booster club, Tulsa Charms, Inc., where she received a community service of the year award for her work with children in underprivileged schools.
She worked for over 22 years as a Lab Technician for KELCO of Okmulgee before her retirement in 1999. Her laughter, smile, encouragement and out going personality will certainly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
In her 76th year, Evella Mae Reagan-Anderson surrendered her soul to Jesus on Sunday, May 27, 2018 from Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Debra Ann Williams, her husband, Dr. Joel Anderson, Sr., and her parents.
She leaves in God's care; her son, Jerry C. [Angela] Reagan, Jr., of Okmulgee; her sister, Gwendolyn Marshall, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; her brothers, Ronald [Dollie] Barre', of Fontana, California and Jim [Tracy] Jones, Glenpool, Oklahoma; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her loyal sister-in-law, Bernice Biglow, of Okmulgee, Oklahoma; along with a caravan of other relatives and friends.
