On January 20, 1930, a baby girl was born to Cora Alva Ford and Prince Street in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was the fifth of seven children to this union. They named their new bundle of joy, Flossie Nellie Isabel. She was baptized as a teenager in the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Mrs. Robbins attended Langston University, Oklahoma's only Historic Black University. She would leave her senior year to be united in Holy Matrimony to the late Mr. Herman C. Robbins on September 28, 1951.
Flossie chose to dedicate her life to her family and church, serving as a deaconess for many years. Throughout the years, Mrs. Robbins was involved in various groups and committees, using her expertise as treasurers and secretary. She was also known by her family and friends for her tasty deserts, mainly her pies. Mrs. Robbins also enjoyed playing the piano, and caring for her family.
Mrs. Robbins' parents, her husband, one brother, Prince Street, JR., and one sister, Mary Ellen Walton preceded her in death. Remaining to cherish her precious memories: her children through which she will continue to live, Jacquelyn J. Robbins, Herman C. Robbins (Jackie) Ronald Robbins, Gerald Robbins, Carol Robbins, Beverly Burroughs (Earl), Kelly Scott (Anthony), Granddaughters: Kimbia Robbins, Isha Robbins, Nikki Robbins, Erin Shirley, Even Shirley, Jillian Robbins, Jaleese Robbins, Ravyn Robbins, and Sydney Burroughs, Grandsons: Herman C. Robbins, III, Christopher Robbins, Prince Robbins, Jason Robbins, Elliot Robbins, George Robbins, Benjamin Burroughs, Anthony C. Scott, and Jared Scott, 10 great-grandchildren, Sisters: Dorothy Davis, Hampton, VA., Jean Bass, Tulsa, OK., and Donzella Heard, Upper Marlboro, MD., one brother: Harold Street (Serena), Nashville, TN., Sister-in-laws: Gladys Robbins, Wagoner, OK., Elsie Fields, New York, and Betty Dunavant, Muskogee, OK. and Brother-in-laws: George Robbins (Mary) St. Petersburg, VA., and Eugene Robbins, Chicago, IL.
Services for Mrs. Robbins will be Friday July 13, 2007 at 11AM at Bethel Seventh Day Adventist Church. Visitation will be Thursday from 12Noon to 7PM.
