Mr. Floyd C. Hopkins, age 71 and a resident of Boynton, Oklahoma, left this life on Thursday, January 25, 2007 from Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa.
Born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma from the union of Ernest and Mattie [Anderson] Hopkins on June 7, 1935, Floyd grew up in Okmulgee and attended school here, graduating from Historic Dunbar High School with the Class of 1955. While at Dunbar, he played football, where he starred as the Quarterback on the team.
He provided for his family through his employ with Butternut Baker in Denver, Colorado for over 21 years, before returning to Oklahoma in 1982.
When he returned, he met and married Elfreida on February 13, 1982.
He loved fishing, hunting and raising Beagles. During his time in Denver, he was a member of the "Top-hatters" Social Club.
A friend to all who knew him, he will be missed by his family and friends.
Remaining to lament his death; his wife, Elfreida Hopkins, of the home in Boynton, Oklahoma; his son, Jerome Hopkins, Denver, Colorado; his step-children, Andre & Laura DeWeese, Suprise, Arizona, Yvonne Brown, Denver, Colorado, Carle & Michelle DeWeese, Fort Collins, Colorado and Michelle DeWeese, Kansas City, Missouri; his dear friend and adopted mother, Viria M. Brown, Denver, Colorado; four grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, one step-great-grandchild; along with a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
The farewell will be on Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Peace of the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc., of Okmulgee. Brother Clarence Hall, Pastor of Eastside Church of Christ will Officiate.
You may visit Floyd, as he slumbers at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12 Noon until 6 PM and on Wednesday morning beginning at 10 AM.
