Floyd "Jack" Johnson was born on March 21, 1937 in Edna, Oklahoma to John Fisher Johnson and Ida Mae Tate. Three children were born from this relationship; Floyd, Deanie and a baby boy. Floyd met and married Gladys Johnson (Thomas) on April 5,1955 and six children were born from this relationship; Eric, Floyd Junior, Erwin Jan, Kenneth Darryl, Stella Mae, and Delbert Del' Shun.
Floyd joined Labor Union 612, where he worked construction and operated heavy equipment for many years. From there, he started working with the Concho Excavation Contractor Company. In 1973 he joined the International Union of Operating Engineers Local Union 627 and labored there until he retired December 01, 1989. He believed in providing and supporting his family.
Floyd accepted Christ and was baptized on August 23 1998, under the pastoral leadership of Rev. A. R. Obey, of the New Life Baptist Church, in Lacey, Washington. During Floyd's Christian journey he was often heard praying and talking to the Lord. His favorite scriptures were from Psalm, which he read often.
After moving back to Oklahoma, Floyd joined the Tuskegee Baptist Church, of Edna, Oklahoma under the pastoral leadership of Reverend Elijah Nash, where he served as deacon. Floyd later joined the First Baptist Church, of Beggs, Oklahoma, under the pastoral leadership of Reverend Maurice Williams.
Gladys often said, "one of the greatest joys of her life was having seen Floyd walking down the isle to give his heart to God." Floyd and Gladys created a strong, loving and compassionate family. "Papa" as the grandchildren and great grandchildren called him, brought much joy to his heart and to his life. "Papa" will be missed very much. I am sure if "Papa" could have a last word with each one of you it would be, "I am expecting to see you in glory" singing and praising God with me and the angels around the throne."
On December 13th 2017, Floyd renewed the Plan of Salvation. His words were, "Lord Jesus, Father God, I'm a sinner. Forgive me of all my sins. Cover me with your Precious Blood. I accept you as my Lord and Savior."
