IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Floyd L.
Vann
May 7, 1972 – December 12, 2018
Floyd Lamar Vann was born on May 7, 1972 at Holloman Air Force Base in Alamogordo, New Mexico.
He spent the first months of his life there before the family moved back to Oklahoma. His dad nicknamed him "Bughead" because of how his head and body moved while crawling, and through the years, the name shortened to 'Bugg.' Early in life, Floyd joined Macedonia Baptist Church and received Christ with guidance from Brother Joseph Rentie and Brother Louis Walker. He always spoke highly of them and soon became Superintendent of Sunday School. He loved Christ and his church family dearly.
During his youth, he played baseball, Paul Young Football and excelled in music. He played the saxophone and piano well and continued playing the saxophone for the Muskogee High School Band. He graduated early from Muskogee High and enlisted in the National Guard at age 17. After completing basic training, he became a medic for the 145th Medic group in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He returned to Muskogee to walk with his Muskogee High School Class of 1990. Afterwards, he continued his education at Oklahoma University, receiving a scholarship for Academics. During his first year at OU, he was sent to Kuwait to serve our country during Desert Storm.
He returned on his 19th birthday and resumed studies at OU. Upon graduation, he attended OU School of Medicine for two years. While he attended medical school, he assisted in the recovery during the tragic bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City. Floyd loved his children, whom he referred to as "My Boys" and made every effort to support, spend time and provide for them. He worked as a teacher for over ten years in Oklahoma City and Dallas. He also worked other various occupations to help provide for them. He knew the importance of a father's love.
After a brief illness, Floyd was given Eternal rest on December 12, 2018. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Floyd and Havana [McNac] Vann and Henry and Pauline [Hopkins] Hickman.
He leaves to celebrate his legacy; his sons, Jeremiah, Josiah and James Vann, all of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Joseph Vann, Dallas, Texas; his mother and step-father, Paulette and Vernon Logan, Summit, Oklahoma; his father, Floyd Vann, III, Wichita Falls, Texas; his siblings, Shannon R.
