A precious bundle of joy was delivered to Jessie Bell (DeVareuax) Hurtis Robinson on March 13, 1944 in Elk City, Oklahoma. The couple named their baby girl Freda Ann Robinson. Raised by Jessie Bell and Emanuel Jones, Freda attended school and played basketball at Lincoln Flats. She united in Christ at an early age, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Elk City, OK. Freda, also referred to as "Beverly," united in marriage to Earl Keel. This union produced 4 children. James, Victor, Barbara, and Steve. The marriage later dissolved, however Mrs. Keel remained a dedicated mother, sister, daughter, aunt and friend. Also, she raised a grandson Jaime Keel whom is just like a son to her.
Mrs. Keel was a dedicated, and hard worker over the course of many years. She was employed with The Pantz factory, Wal-Mart, 3M and retired from UPS in 2004. Freda then moved to Okmulgee, Oklahoma to be near her family and friends. She was an active member of the Masonic Lodge; Elk City, OK and an Eastern Star member. While in Okmulgee she united with Conversion Ministry under the direction of Pastor Gregory Richardson. There she was an active member of The Usher Board & Women of Christ. Freda was always willing to lend a helping hand to others. Mrs. Keel was proceeded in death in death by her parents, one son, Victor Keel, one sister; Dimitrica Jones.
Freda closed her eyes, February 25th 2012 at 2:30am at St. John's Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma with family by her side. Freda leaves to cherish her memories her loving children: James Keel, Elk City, Okmulgee, OK, Barbara Ann Edwards (Mark) Okmulgee, OK, Steve Keel (Rhonda), Oklahoma City, OK., two sisters: Norma Jones, Carmelita Jones, two brothers: Robert Jones (Mattie), Wayne Jones, all of Elk City, OK. Several sister and brother in-laws, 16 grandchildren, over 20, great grandchildren, along with a host of nephews, nieces and friends. Freda did not just merely die, she went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Remember she lived her life to the fullest. Freda will be truly missed. Her smile and her love for life.
Services for Freda Keel are Monday, March 5, 2012 at 2PM at St. Mary's Christian Center in Okmulgee. Friends may gather from 3PM-5PM in Okmulgee to visit her.
