Obituary

Mr. Freddie Williams, in his 82nd year, transitioned from Labor to Refreshment on Saturday morning, July 2, 2022 from Okmulgee, Oklahoma.

"If God keeps my boots within reach, and gives me strength to saddle my horse, I will be on horseback
until the sun sinks away in the western skies, and the Lord has finally closed my eyes."

On July 2, 2022, Freddie Williams, affectionately known as "Law-Man" saddled up and rode off to that big arena in the sky. Born in Okmulgee, OK to Dollie Mae Williams-Lewis on November 15, 1939, Freddie began his ride.

Freddie attended elementary school in Okmulgee, and after finishing elementary school, he moved to Phoenix, AZ where he was a graduate of Phoenix Union High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army where he enlisted for a period of 5 years, 11 months, and 28 days. After being discharged from the military, Freddie returned to Okmulgee where he served as a police officer for the City of Okmulgee, where he walked "The Beat" for 20 years. Thus, he was labeled with the name "Lawman" by his long-time friend Kenneth Craig.

Freddie accepted Christ as his savior at a young age and was baptized at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He was a musician at Mt. Zion, and he also was the musician at Pilgrim Baptist Church in Bristow, OK until his health began to fail. He was well known for his ability to play the piano, but he was well known to many as "the man with the dancing gray horse known as "Arab", or "'Ol Gray".

Horses were his love, and the love of horses transpired to the rodeo arena. Freddie was a member of the Okmulgee Eastside Round-Up Club, where he was voted President. This club was known worldwide for the Pony Express Relay Race, that is still an exciting event at rodeos today. Freddie went into announcing by doing Saturday and Sunday evening calf ropings, and that led to being the rodeo announcer for multiple fun days, parades, family reunions, and of course rodeos. If you didn't catch him on that gray horse riding, you were sure to catch him (still) on that gray horse with a microphone in hand, always interacting with the crowd; this is truly where he loved to be.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Dollie Mae Williams-Lewis, his sister Nora Bell Williams, his son Freddie Williams, Jr., his brothers, Tommy Talton, Chris Talton, Jr., Herbert "Lockie" Talton, and Charles Talton.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his devoted wife Linda Williams, his children, Milton Hammon, Melody (Danny) Evans, Angie Clement, Reginald (Tiffini) Williams, Kerry (Marion) Simpson, Kendra (Cornell "Burt") Burkhalter, and Terrence Williams. His siblings, Verna Cole, Debra (Mike) Ibe, Pat Parker, Gay (Leatrice) Talton, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends specifically "The Burger King Crew".

The "Last Roundup" for the "Law Man" will commence on Saturday morning, July 9, 2022 at the 10th Hour in the most holy sanctuary of the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church,  1500 North Miami Avenue.  Dr. Douglas Carrington is the Gracious Host Pastor, and Reverend Rodney Payne, Pastor of Bethlehem Star Baptist Church, Oklahoma City will Officiate and Reverend Herman Spears, Pastor, Pilgrim Baptist Church, Bristow, Oklahoma, will deliver the Eulogy.

His final ride will then journey to the sacred grounds of the Woodlawn Cemetery in Okmulgee.

You may visit Mr. Williams, as he slumbers in peaceful repose at the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc., of Okmulgee on Friday, July 8, 2022 from 1:00PM to 6:00PM.
