Obituary

On September 11, 1953, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, a baby boy was born to Ernest Nero, Sr., and Juanita Graham, whom they named Ernest Frederick Graham.

Better known as "Freddy" to family and "Rock" to friends, he attended Muskogee Public Schools and graduated from Muskogee High School, with the Class of 1972..  He enjoyed being in the band and playing his horn.

Freddy was raised in the Baptist Church and attended the Old Agency Baptist Church, where the late A. A. Wallace was the Pastor.  He was a member of the Fountain Baptist Church, Where Reverend William Brown was his Pastor.  He attended regularly until his health began to fail, but loved to sing.

He enlisted in the United States Navy and was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia on the USS Basilone.  He received his honorable discharge in October of 1975.  Freddy loved to cook, which is what he did on the ship.  He would always cook plenty of food, even when it was just for 2 people.

Freddy attended some college classes in Texas and also at Connors State College to further his education.  He enjoyed spending time with his family members, especially when he could show off his talents with those ribs and turkey and dressing.  He loved to attend the rodeos and was an avid Rougher Football fan.

In April of 1996, he married his friend, Karen McGreger and from this union, they were blessed with a son, Braxton and a daughter, Kayanna.  This marriage was later dissolved but they remained friends.

Freddy worked construction and for Brockway Glass Company to provide for his family.  He was given the nickname "Rock" by his Uncle Harold, who he was raised with and treated like a brother.

After 63 years with us on earth, the Lord called him home on Sunday, March 19, 2017 from Muskogee, Oklahoma.  He will surely be missed for that great sense of humor and that "crazy" laugh that he had.

Freddy was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Harold L. and Ora Lee Graham;  his father, Earnest Nero, Sr.; his Aunt [sister] Maggie Lee Graham-Simmons;  his cousin, Craig Graham; and his Uncle [brother] Harold Graham, Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memory;  his mother, Juanita Brown, of the home in Muskogee;  his son, Braxton and his daughter,  Kayanna, both of Muskogee;  four sisters, Vicki Marshall [Calvin], Tulsa, Oklahoma, Robyne [Kenneth] Caddy, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Anita Logan, Muskogee and Marchell [Donald] Cherry, Poteau, Oklahoma;  a brother, Darryl [Sekora] Brown, Muskogee; Sekora, a one of a kind sister-in-law who was always there by his side, no matter what she had going on;  along with a caravan of nieces, nephews, cousins and a special friend, James "Mailman" Bray.
