Our family mourns the loss of our dear and beloved Frenchie Clara Alford. Frenchie passed away on July 23, 2022, at her home in Owasso, Oklahoma, after a heroic battle with cancer. Frenchie was born November 25, 1938, in Bearden, Oklahoma and was 83 years old at her passing. Frenchie was the daughter of Ethel Patton-Alford & Louis Milton Alford, Sr.; Granddaughter of Lydia Thibodeaux-Alford & James Willie Alford; and Great-Granddaughter of Martha Griffiths-Alford & Lafayette "Fate" Alford.
Frenchie was preceded in death by her parents, Ethel Alford & Louis Milton Alford; sons, Orlando Dewayne White and Andre Bernard White; sisters, Lydia "Angie" Alford and Lisa Alford; and brother, Louis Milton Alford, Jr.
Frenchie is survived by her daughter Evetta White; step-daughter, Cynthia Prince-Hall; sisters, Lurra Mae Calahan, Joyce Getum, and Nancy Winter; brother, Donnell Alford, Sr; grandchildren, elle black, Kasandra White, Thomas Routt III, Andre White II, PK White, Benida White, Niles White, Alexandria White; great granddaughter and caregiver, Storm White-Blount; great grand children, Thomas Routt IV, Alexander Routt, Cherish Routt, Orlando Routt, Dearius Hall, La'Keith Hall; aunts, uncles, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Frenchie lived her life as a storyteller, an educator, a caregiver, a friend, and a great woman of faith. All who knew her were captured by her intelligence, strong will, determination, and fierce spirit. In a time of great opposition, Frenchie was the first in her line of three generations to have completed her Bachelor's and Master's degrees, and she will be remembered as a family matriarch - setting and paving the way for generations to come, a highly gifted and favored educator, a dedicated participant in the Alford Family Reunion, and a beloved community and church-family member.
The Celebratory Service for Ms. Alford will be Friday, August 5th, 2022 at 11:00AM at Three Angels Seventh-Day Adventist Church-Collinsville.
You may visit her as she Slumbers in Sweet Repose Thursday between the hours of 11:00AM to 6:00PM in the Tulsa Chapel.
Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery in Weleetka, Oklahoma.
