Obituary

George Augustus "Duke" Lagway was born on November 7, 1927, in Crockett, Texas, to the late Johnnie and Nettie Lagway. He was the fourth of eight children born to this union.

Duke received his early education in Crockett, Texas, before being drafted into the United States Army, where he proudly served his country and was honorably discharged after several years of service. His sense of duty and love of country led him to later voluntarily enlist in the United States Air Force, where he was stationed in California and again honorably discharged.

While stationed in California, Duke met the love of his life, Loddie Vernice, and the two were united in marriage in January 1955. Together they shared over 80 years of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Their journey together took them across the country—making homes and lifelong memories in Vallejo, California; Reno, Nevada; and Tulsa, Oklahoma. Duke and Loddie's life was filled with travel, family visits, and deep affection for one another.

Duke was preceded in death by his parents and all but one of his beloved siblings.

Mr. G.A. "Duke" Lagway, in his 97th year,  traveled from "Life to Everlasting Life" on Monday, November 3, 2025 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Loddie V. Lagway, and his brother, Charlie Lagway, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends who will remember his warmth, humor, and kind spirit.

Though Duke's earthly journey has ended, his legacy of love, service, and faith will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

The Final Salute for G.A. "Duke" Lagway will commence on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at the Tenth Hour at the Cane Creek Cemetery near Boynton, Oklahoma, where his nephew Pastor Craig Taylor will preside.
