Obituary
Gary Spencer Arps was born on May 15, 1969 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the son of Spencer and Daisy Luvesta Arps. During his toddler years, his family fondly nicknamed him "Goo"-and "Goo" he was.
Gary began his early education at Academy Central Elementary School. In the inaugural year of Green Country Christian Academy, Gary was one of the original fifty three children chosen to attend. He attended Edison Junior High School and was a 1986 graduated of John Marshall High School in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Gary's sports life included boxing, football and wrestling. He coached football at the Tulsa Boy's and Girls Club. ON March 23, 1996, Gary married Angela Berryhill and this union brought forth one son, Cory Stephon McClellan Arps.
Gary enjoyed his employment with Oklahoma Fixture Company of Tulsa and driving his Big Rig for Roadrunner Delivery Service Inc., of Tulsa.
His life came to a close on Monday, November 6, 2006 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Gary was preceded in death by his brother, Spencer Arps, Jr., and his step-father, Leroy Powell.
He leaves to cherish his memory; his loving son, Corey Stephon Arps, Wichita, Kansas; his mother, Daisy L. Powell, Tulsa, Oklahoma; his father, Spencer and step-mother, Sylvia Arps, Tulsa, Oklahoma; his brothers, Shawn Ross [Rose], Tulsa, Oklahoma, Leroy Powell, Jr., Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Derek Parry, Cushing, Oklahoma, and Tyron Arps, Tulsa, Oklahoma; his sisters, LeNita Parry, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Dina Singleton [Robert], Tulsa, Oklahoma, Gaysha Fuqua [Richard], Tulsa, Oklahoma, Shelley Woodard [Steve], Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Kyna Arps, Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Tia Arps, Tulsa, Oklahoma; his loving grandmother, Juanita Parry, Tulsa, Oklahoma; along with a caravan of other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Service of memory for Mr. Arps will be on Saturday, November 11, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. in the Church of Christ. Brother Johnnie Vinson will officiate. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.
You may visit Gary on Friday from 10 AM to 7 PM at the funeral home in Tulsa.
