IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Geoffrey Germaine
Chaplin
August 3, 1978 – October 17, 2019
On August 3rd, 1978, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, Loretta Chaplin and Anthony Brown welcomed a beautiful, baby boy and oldest son into this world. They decided to name him Geoffrey Germaine Chaplin. He was affectionately known as "Big Ged" to family and close friends.
Geoffrey accepted Christ at an early age at Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. He was a very active member in church while he was young. He enjoyed being on the Drill Team under the leadership of Sister Marsha Newton and he was recently planning to start a prison ministry with Pastor Rooshawn Pratt.
Geoffrey attended Muskogee Public Schools, graduating from Muskogee High School in 1996. He attended upward bound in the summer, he was involved in African American Club during high school and he was also in ROTC. After graduation he attended Connors State College for 2 years but his dream career was to become a Mortician.
Geoffrey has always been friendly and outgoing. He had a smile that could light any room and was a "giver" by nature. Having been raised by a person that gave, it came natural to him.
You could always count on Geoffrey for a good laugh, a word of advice, or a listening ear, anytime day or night. He was never unavailable. Everyone that encountered Big Ged was shown love.
He was always willing to help in any way that he could and he took the role of "Big Brother" to heart. Big brother was always there.
Although Geoffrey didn't have any biological children, he took on the fatherly role to many, including his nieces and nephews, along with a child that he considered his daughter "Teumbray Gibbs". He was looking forward to watching her graduate High School in May 2020.
On October 17, 2019, the Lord touched the heart of many when he called Geoffrey home to be with his loved ones. He was welcomed in Heaven with open arms by those who preceded him in death; His loving mother, Loretta Chaplin- Crutcher, his Step-Father, Thomas Dooley, His Grandparents, William & Iretta Wilson, Ernest & Girtha Chaplin, Elijah and Gertrude Dooley, and his Uncle Marlin Brown.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory in God's hands; His Father, Anthony Brown; Step-Father, Arthur Crutcher; his Daughter, Teumbray Gibbs; 4 Siblings; Demetrious, Kimberly, Christopher, & Darren; His Step Siblings Tyrone, Jamelle, Krystle, Latrice, Lanisha, Anthony, Jasmine, Jasmilla, Angela, Adrian, & Cameron; His Aunts, Tamarcia (Ronnie), Joanna (Chris), Ernest, Timothy; His Great-Aunt Jeanetta; His Nieces and Nephews and cousins, along with a large host of family, friends and loved ones.
Service of Memory for Mr. Chaplin will commence on Friday, November 1, 2019 at 1:00 PM in the most holy sanctuary of the Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. The Pastor, Reverend Rooshawn Pratt will officiate. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Haskell, Oklahoma.
You may visit Geoffrey on Thursday from 12 Noon until 6 PM in the People's Chapel of the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc., in Muskogee.
