The story of George Wesley Reynolds, Jr., began in Red Bird, Oklahoma, on July 19, 1919 as the son of Ophelia and G. W. Reynolds, Sr. He professed a hope in Christ at an early age at the First Baptist Church in Red Bird. At the age of 19, he married the love of his life, A pure vision of beauty he fell in love with, Velma Lee Humphrey. He settled in Red Bird after reaching adulthood, where he worked several jobs to provide for his family. Cultivating his garden was a passion he enjoyed and was active in the Masonic Lodge. He and his wife were blessed with 14 children, 2 which died at birth and 2 sons later in life. Remaining to wait on the Lord; his children, A. J. [Willette], Glen Burnie, MD, Gladys, Red Bird, Bobbie Jo, Broken Arrow, OK, Glodene, McKinney, TX, Jerry [Charlene], Broken Arrow, OK, Donnie, Red Bird, Sharon, Grand Prarie, OK, Wanda [Ron], Plano, TX, Michael and Kelvin, Red Bird; a caravan of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
The final tribute to Mr. Reynolds will be on Saturday, December 10, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. in the First Baptist Church of Red Bird. Reverend William T. Janey, the gracious host Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Red Bird Cemetery. Masonic Rites will be recited on Friday evening beginning at 6 PM at the funeral home in Muskogee.
