Her journey began in Mason, Tennessee, near the city of Covington, when the second and last born to Willie and Elease Smith Parks on October 19, 1923 and she was given the name Gerogia Mariah Nunley.
Better known as "Momma", she and her only sibling, Robert Parks were reared by Mr. Clarence Greer, who was the special Father in their lives.
She professed Christ in her life at an early age at Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Mason, Tennessee. Georgia completed school and relocated to Denver, Colorado, where she pressed and cleaned clothes for 27 years. Later in life, she relocated to Muskogee, Oklahoma, where she met Andrew W. "Bubba" Nunley and they were married in 1986.
As a family, they raised their daughter, Tenesha Nunley and were faithful members of Saint Mark Baptist Church. "Momma" was always known to say yes to any help for anybody, from the homeless to housing and feeding others, to being a shoulder to lean on and ears to listen or just being a Momma whenever needed. She enjoyed providing foster parenting, sewing quilts, traveling, attending church services, and watching the Atlanta Braves play baseball.
She loved to repeat the 23rd Psalms and as a mother, she is irreplaceable and very much appreciated. She began making her eternal plans with the Lord late Sunday, when all that was understandable from her speaking was "I'm ready to go home." On Monday morning, January 17, 2011 at 11:27, she reached out and took our Heavenly Father's hand up the stairway to Heaven. "Momma" dozed into the tranquil sleep of eternal peace. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother and her husband, Andrew "Bubba" Nunley.
Her memory will remain forever etched in the hearts of her family; her daughter, Tenesha A. Nunley; her special friend, Joe Venson, whom they shared 10 years and a home together; two grandchildren, Corey Chaplin and Kanius Parker; her dear, special friends, Emma Cole, Billie Snoddy and Elizabeth Hanley, Robert McConnell and Marrion Massey; four great-nieces, Sandra Dyson, Joan [John] Dyson, Atlanta Dyson, Vickie [Robert] Dyson; three great-nephews, Gentry [Sheila] Dyson, William Dyson, Jr. and Jerry Dyson; 27 great-great- nieces and nephews; 36 great-great-great nieces and nephews; along with other relatives, friends and the Saint Mark Church family.
