Georgia A. Turner, after 80 years, received her "Crown of Glory" on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
Georgia was born on July 23, 1939 in Vian, Oklahoma. She was the fourth child born to Lee and Nora [Bland] Henry. She was given the nickname "Baby Sis" by her siblings.
Georgia attended Douglas High School in Vian and furtherred her education at a vocation and technical school. She also attended Connors State College in Warner, Oklahoma, where she was initiated as a new member of the Mu Chi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa in April of 1996. Georgia was employed at Sequoyah Fuels in Gore, Oklahoma for almost fifteen years as a Chemical Operator and then worked in Home Health. Georgia was a dedicated and longtime member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Vian, where she served as Church Treasurer. She was a member of Alice Williams Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 7 as well. Additionally, she served as the Treasurer for Roselawn Cemetery. Her interest were Church, family, shoping and eating out with her girls.
Georgia was a great Mom, she was loved and she will be greatly missed. So, until we meet again Mom, we are thinking of you always. You are a part of our lives, heart and soul forever. "Thank you for being our Mother." This life that graced this world so beautifully now shines bright and new in Heaven!
Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Nora Henry; her son, Charles; her brother, Wesley; and two sisters, Rachel and Josephine.
She leaves to celebrate her ascension and cherish her memory; five children, Johnny Turner, Teresa Turner, Jeraldine Turner-Wright [Michael], Sandra Hall [Gary], and Valerie Turner [Al]; her step-brother, Jerome Olive; eleven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
You may visit Mrs. Turner, as she slumbers in sweet repose at the funeral home in Muskogee on Friday from 12 Noon until 6:00 PM.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM on Saturday until 11:45 AM at the First Missionary Baptist Church. Her Sacred Farewell will commence on Saturday, May 16, 2020 at 12 Noon in the First Missionary Baptist Church of Vian. Reverend Mack Jackson, Pastor, will Officiate. Burial will follow in the Roselawn Cemetery in Vian.
