IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gerald Gay,
Jr.
October 15, 1977 – February 28, 2023
On October 15, 1977, God blessed us with Gerald Tyrone Gay, Jr., from the union of Sandra (Leffall) Gay and Gerald Gay, Sr. He accepted Christ and was baptized at Old Agency Baptist Church at an early age, singing in the choir and reciting many Christmas and Easter speeches.
He attended Muskogee public schools, graduating with the class of 1996. He received a scholarship for football from Langston University, during which he excelled in both football and basketball.
Early in life, Gerald found his love for cooking by watching his grandmothers, Maxine and Katy, work wonders in the kitchen. Gerald had such a servant's heart. His love for others was constantly on display by cooking for and feeding the needy at Thanksgiving and Christmas for many years.
He blessed his family and friends with many mouth-watering cookouts, during which he could be found mentoring the youth. Outside of his love for cooking, he could be found fishing, rapping, or working in the garden with his grandfather, Cleveland.
In 2002 he met his life partner, TyJuanisha Freeman. This union brought about many blessings, Essence, NiShari, Imari and JaCouri, giving him the joy, fulfillment, and satisfaction only family can bring. Gerald's love for family was genuine and heartfelt, making each one feel uniquely special.
Gerald peacefully transitioned to his eternal home on February 28, 2023.
Gerald was preceded in death by his mother, Sandra; grandmother, Maxine; three aunts, Pam, Lisa, and Marie; and grandfather, James "Man" Gay.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories: grandfather, Cleveland Leffall; grandmother, Delores "Katy" Gay; father, Gerald Gay, Sr.; life partner, TyJuanisha Freeman; children, Essence, NiShari, Imari, and JaCouri; brothers, Blaque Parker and Gerard Moses; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends
