Obituary

Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.

Proverbs 31: 30

Geraldine Mikel Wilson made her debut in life on Friday, June 20 th 1930.  Born to Sammie Lee and Mary Fisher Mikel in Sand Springs. Ok, she completed the sibling count of 4 children, 2 girls and twin sons.  Each birth separated by six years, the oldest, sister Cara Lee, 12 years her junior and brothers Sammie Lee (Jimmie Lee died at birth) 6 years older sharing the same birthdate of this baby girl..  Her parents and siblings preceded her in death.

Geraldine was a very inquisitive and independent child, forging her way through life learning and growing, becoming a force of nature affecting the lives of all she encountered.  At an early age she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and united with Paradise Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. A.L. Branch.  In her late teens she joined the fellowship of Morning Star Baptist Church, where she remained until her death.

On January 20 th 1953, Geraldine united in marriage with Elbert L. (Pete) Wilson Sr and his three children.  To this union four addition children were born. In 1973 Geraldine and Pete received their 12 year old niece as their youngest daughter.

An entrepreneur, Geraldine was a licensed beautician owning her salon.   She nurtured and instill in her children the importance of education and the benefits of having diverse interests and talents.  After emptying the nest, she initiated an employment search outside the home, launching a career with Tulsa Community Action Agency Senior Citizen Nutrition Program, lasting 19 years. In her official capacity she impacted lives from her house to the White House.

An active member of the Morning Star Baptist Church, Geraldine served in most of the ministries at the church including the Women's Missionary Union, Sunday School teaching staff, Gospel Chorus, Deaconess, Women's Chorus, and later the Adult Choir. Geraldine's gift of ministry through song, blessed, uplifted, and inspired praise from all who experienced that anointed voice.  All listening for the call of  "Master" in the song "Peace Be Still."

Love is who Geraldine is and love is what she did. To know her was to be loved. Wisdom, integrity, dignity, beauty and grace portrayed in humility is Geraldine Wilson. In Praises to God we honor her.

On September 13th 2018, Geraldine transitioned from labor to rest.

Preceding her in death are her parents, siblings, husband Elbert L. (Pete) Wilson Sr. and son Elbert L. Wilson Jr.

Cherishing her memory are children, Wanda (Los Angeles,Ca); Preston(Cheryl), Dwight(Janace), Denise, Mikel and Cheryl, Regina(Don) all of Tulsa; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-children; 6 great great - grandchildren; and a  host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
