Gertha Mae Nelson was born on November 4, 1931 in Wagoner, Oklahoma. She was born to Odis and Opal Jewel Nelson. She was one of two children.
Gertha grew up helping her parents with the dairy farm and attended Sandtown Baptist Church where her parents served as Deacons. This is where she gave her life to the Lord and served faithfully with her parents.

Charles and Gertha were married in 1953.
Through this union 4 children were born. They resided in Wichita, Kansas and were married for 17 years.
When her husband passed away, Gertha and her daughters relocated to Tulsa, Oklahoma to be closer to family. She served faithfully as a greeter at Faith Christian Fellowship for many years. Later in life, she became a faithful member of Maranatha Christian Life Center. She worked in various occupations but loved working in the area of administration. She also worked at Tulsa Job Corp, as she was fond of working with children. Gertha had many favorite past times, but she loved spending time with her girls.
