Born on June 8, 1957, in Muskogee, Gilbert, affectionately known as "Gill," was the cherished son of Robert and Mary Lou Parks.
He grew up in a loving family and was a proud member of the Muskogee community. Gilbert attended Dunbar, Saddler, and Muskogee High School, where he made lasting friendships and memories.
From an early age, Gilbert professed his faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized, becoming a devoted member of Greater Shiloh Baptist Church. His commitment to serving the Lord was evident in his life, as he actively participated in church activities and embraced the teachings of love and compassion.
Gilbert's professional journey included his time at ACME Engineering, along with various other roles that showcased his strong work ethic and dedication. Outside of work, he found joy in his favorite hobbies, basketball and music. Whether on the court or listening to his favorite tunes, Gilbert's vibrant spirit and infectious laughter brought joy to those around him.
Mr. Gilbert Ray Parks, a beloved resident of Muskogee, Oklahoma, "stepped into Glory" on Sunday morning, June 1, 2025, at the age of 67.
His passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories, survived by his siblings: Robert Jr., Roger and Marilyn Parks; Flossie Chandler; Sharon Walker; Marilyn Taylor; Eric and Sonya Parks; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
Gilbert Ray Parks will be remembered not only for his warm smile and kind heart but also for the impact he made on the lives of those he encountered. His spirit will continue to inspire and uplift, reminding us of all of the importance of faith, family, and friendship.
The Hour of Remembrance for Mr. Parks will commence on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at the Eleventh Hour in the most holy sanctuary of Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Muskogee.
