IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Glenda Faye
Johnson
August 5, 1958 – May 17, 2022
On August 5, 1958, a beautiful baby girl was born to Ben and Geneve Proutt, and they named her Glenda Faye Proutt.
Glenda Faye Johnson was a free spirit full of love, life, and laughter. Anyone who knew and loved her could attest that when with Glenda, there was never a dull moment. Her laughter and quick wittedness was very infectious. Whether she was the life of the party or a trusted confidant, you knew that she had your best interest at heart.
She was a devoted Christian woman of faith and a member of Temple of Hope Antioch Baptist Church.
Glenda graduated from Muskogee High School in 1976, briefly attending college before being inspired in 1979 to join the United States Army. Stationed in Fort Clayton, Panama, she was a Crypto Material Non-Commissioned Officer for the 193rd Infantry Brigade. Glenda worked her way up to the ranking of Sergeant before honorably retiring in 1984. Glenda returned from service having earned an Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Good Conduct Medal, and Marksman Badge (rifle). Glenda later worked at the Department of Veteran Affairs as an outpatient clerk in the early 90's, before earning 100% status and fully retiring from the 9-5. She served her country with pride and respect.
Those principles of pride and respect were instilled in her three beautiful daughters Gea, Gail, and Gabrielle, as well as her granddaughter, Alexea. The daughter of Ben and Geneva Proutt, Sr., Glenda was the youngest girl of six siblings. Bennie Reed (David), Velma Jean Jones (late Waldo E. Jones III), Octavia Carter, Ben Proutt, Jr., (Zarina), and Rev. Robert Lee Proutt (Rhonda). Glenda loved each of her siblings and loved sharing memories of childhood growing up with her children, granddaughter, nieces, and nephews. Love. Many called it madness, but Glenda called it love. Glenda loved and spent the last remaining years of her life loving Henry Johnson. Together, they enjoyed spending time with family and friends. With a story and a smile, Glenda is survived by those who loved her the most.
Mrs. Glenda Faye (Proutt) Johnson, in her 63rd Season of Life, peacefully transitioned from this life on Tuesday morning, May 17, 2022 in Muskogee.
