IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gracie Mae
Sallis
June 11, 1925 – August 16, 2017
Henry and Elizabeth Simpson were blessed with a baby girl on June 11, 1925 in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was named Gracie Mae Simpson and was the first of twelve children. She was married to Thomas Wilson Sallis, Sr. From that union, they were blessed with three children: Thomas Wilson Sallis Jr. (Duni), Henry William Sallis (Uncle John), and Helen Elizabeth Sallis (Silver). Gracie was preceded in death by her very loving husband and daughter, Helen.
At an early age, she was baptized at the Four-Mile Branch Church, where she continued to be a member. She loved being a part of the Four-Mile Branch community. She would always say, "I would not want to live my life anywhere else." She worked as a Housekeeper, at the Muskogee Hotel for over 30 years, until the hotel went out of business. She also managed and cooked with "Mama Mac" at Mac's Grill. She spent her remaining years taking care of her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
The family she leaves behind to cherish her memories include her two sons: Thomas W. Sallis Jr., of Fort Gibson, and Henry W. and Letha A. Sallis, of Oklahoma City. Three sisters, Georgia Mae Reynolds, of Muskogee, Ora Lee Mayfield, of Fort Gibson, and Lucille Stone, of Muskogee. Seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
